How to Use The Body Oil — Multipurpose Moisturiser, Body Cleanser, Bath and Massage Oil
Share
You already know that feeling.
Skin that feels dry and tight after showering. A bathroom shelf crowded with products that each promise to fix one thing. A routine that keeps getting longer, more complicated, and somehow less enjoyable.
What if one bottle could quietly replace most of them?
The Happy Oils UK Body Oil was formulated with exactly that in mind — a rich, skin-loving botanical oil that works in multiple ways, depending on what you need. It isn't trying to be many products. It simply is many things, because your skin needs different kinds of care on different kinds of days.
Available in a generous 500ml so you can actually benefit from every way to use it. Not sure which scent to commit to? Start with the 10ml mini sizes to find your favourite before going full size.
One Bottle, Five Ways
FIVE WAYS TO USE YOUR BODY OIL
1. Daily Whole Body Moisturiser
This is the most effortless way to use your Body Oil. Apply it to damp or slightly wet skin after a bath or shower — after a light towel dry, while your skin is still warm and holding a little moisture. The oil absorbs beautifully into that residual hydration and helps seal it in.
On non-shower days, or mid-day when your skin needs a refresh — mist your skin with a water spray bottle, or simply dampen your skin with water using your hands before applying the oil. This small step makes a significant difference.
Why water first? Oil and water work together in a specific order. Water provides the hydration; oil seals it in. When you apply oil to completely dry skin, it sits on the surface without that water layer to lock in. When you apply it to damp skin, it forms a light seal over the moisture already present — keeping it in your skin rather than letting it evaporate into the air.
This process of water escaping from the skin is called Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL) — and it's one of the main reasons skin feels tight and dry, especially after cleansing or bathing when the skin's natural barrier is temporarily disrupted. A good body oil applied to damp skin helps reduce TEWL by supporting that barrier, giving your skin time to replenish and retain its own moisture.
How much: Use 3–5 pumps, warmed between your palms before pressing into skin with gentle upward strokes. For the whole body, be generous — one pump is roughly 1–2ml, so adjust depending on how much surface you're covering and how your skin feels that day.
2. Body Cleanser
This one surprises people — but once you try it, you'll wonder why you ever skipped it.
The principle is simple: oil dissolves oil. Apply the Body Oil while you're in the shower or bath, after your first water rinse, massaging it over wet skin. Focus especially on areas where dirt, sweat, and product buildup tend to accumulate — joints, underarms, and feet are where deodorant, grime, and daily residue cling the most.
Water and oil don't fully emulsify together, but on wet skin the oil creates a glide that lifts and catches more from the skin surface — including deodorant residue and daily buildup — more effectively than water alone. Then, when you lather with your soap or shower gel, it all rinses away cleanly, leaving your skin clean but never stripped.
How much: 2–3 pumps massaged generously over wet skin before cleansing.
3. Bath Oil & Foot Soak
Add the Body Oil directly to a warm bath and let the water carry it over your skin as you soak. This works especially well in combination with the Happy Oils UK Mineral Bath Salts (sold separately) — the salts dissolve into the water while the oil floats and softens the skin from the moment you step in.
How much for a bath: Use 8–10 pumps or more — be generous here. The volume of water dilutes everything, so a small amount won't give you the full benefit. You want enough oil to feel it on your skin as you soak.
Foot Soak: Add warm water to a foot basin, pump in a generous amount of Body Oil, and add a spoonful of Mineral Bath Salts. Soak for 10–15 minutes. The oil softens skin and cuticles while the mineral salts help relax tired, aching feet.
After your bath or soak, apply the Body Oil again — using the same damp-skin technique from the Daily Moisturiser step. This is especially important after a bath or foot soak where you've used water, soap, or any water-based cleansers, as these can temporarily disrupt your skin barrier and increase TEWL. A second application of Body Oil while the skin is still slightly warm and damp reseals that moisture and leaves skin smooth and nourished long after the water has cooled.
4. DIY Body Scrub & Foot Scrub
Combine the Body Oil with the Happy Oils UK Mineral Bath Salts (sold separately) directly in your palm to create an instant scrub — no mixing, no extra steps.
In the bath, scoop a small amount of the Mineral Bath Salts from the water and combine in your palm with a few pumps of oil. Massage over the skin in gentle circular motions while soaking, then rinse.
In the shower, do the same on damp skin before cleansing: pump the oil into your palm, mix with a small spoonful of bath salts, and massage before rinsing and lathering as usual.
Foot Scrub: The same technique works brilliantly on heels and calluses. The mineral salts slough away rough, hardened skin while the botanical oils condition and soften underneath. Spend a little extra time on the heels and the ball of the foot — you'll feel the difference immediately.
How much: 2–3 pumps combined with a generous spoonful of Mineral Bath Salts.
5. Aromatherapy Massage Oil
All three Body Oils are designed to work as massage oils — the carrier blend absorbs smoothly without dragging on the skin, and each essential oil blend was formulated to support a specific mood and moment.
You don't need a therapist to make this feel luxurious. You can treat yourself with slow, intentional self-massage — focus on the legs and feet before bed, the arms and shoulders mid-morning, or wherever tension is carried. Many customers also bring their Body Oil along to their massage therapist to be used during their sessions.
How much: 2–3 pumps per body area, warmed between palms before applying.
Baby Massage:
The Body Oil Calming is safety certified for babies 3 months and above and is suitable for sensitive skin. The calming lavender and chamomile aroma helps babies settle for bedtime while gently nourishing their delicate skin at the same time.
The Body Oil Uplifting is also safety certified for babies 6 months and above — ideal for daytime massages when you want to brighten and engage. Note: avoid direct sunlight after applying Body Oil Uplifting on your baby, and use SPF on exposed skin, as the citrus essential oils can make skin more sensitive to sunlight.

Here Is the Science Behind the Formulation — Why You Can Use Just One Body Oil for All of This
The Formulation: What's Actually in Your Body Oil
Every Body Oil starts with the same carefully chosen botanical carrier base — grape seed oil, jojoba, raspberry seed oil, rosehip seed oil, and vitamin E (tocopherol) as a natural antioxidant.
These aren't random oils. Each was chosen for a specific reason.
Grape seed oil is lightweight and rich in linoleic acid — one of the most important essential fatty acids for a healthy skin barrier. It absorbs quickly without feeling heavy, making it ideal for whole-body daily use.
Jojoba is technically a liquid wax that closely mimics your skin's natural sebum. This makes it deeply compatible with virtually every skin type and one of the most stable carrier oils in formulation.
Raspberry seed oil is naturally rich in antioxidants and has been studied for its UV-range absorbent properties. It adds depth and active skin-nourishing support to the base.
Rosehip seed oil is renowned for its botanical skin-conditioning properties — particularly for supporting texture, tone, and regeneration.
Vitamin E (tocopherol) rounds out the formula as a natural antioxidant — protecting the other oils from oxidative degradation and extending the integrity of the formula on your skin.
Together, these oils create a base that is lightweight enough to use daily, rich enough to nourish deeply, and stable enough to carry the aromatherapy layer effectively. That is why one formula works as a moisturiser, a cleanser, a bath oil, a scrub carrier, and a massage oil — the carrier base is doing the heavy lifting across every use.
All three Body Oils have been safety certified by Oxford Biosciences Ltd. under UK Cosmetic Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009.
The Aromatherapy Layer: Three Scents, Three Moods
The same botanical base carries three completely different aromatherapy experiences — chosen not just for how they smell, but for what the essential oils actually do.
🌿 Calming — Lavender, Roman Chamomile & Geranium A soft, floral blend that encourages the nervous system to slow down. Lavender and Roman Chamomile are among the most extensively studied essential oils for relaxation and stress relief. Geranium balances and grounds. This is your end-of-day oil — for baths, bedtime massage, and the moments when you most need to exhale.
⚡ Energising — Peppermint, Mandarin & Tea Tree A fresh, invigorating blend for focus and activation. Peppermint stimulates the senses and supports circulation. Don't be surprised by the initial cooling sensation on the skin — the same properties that feel cool on the surface are actually warming and deeply soothing to activated muscles underneath, making this an exceptional post-activity oil.
🍊 Uplifting — Mandarin, Lemon & Sweet Orange A bright, citrus-forward blend that lifts mood and invokes a sense of lightness and energy. The sweet citrus trio works beautifully together — refreshing without being sharp, and emotionally grounding without being heavy.
A Guide to Each Blend
Rather than repeat the details blend by blend across every use above, here is everything you need to know about each scent in one place.
🌿 Calming — Lavender, Roman Chamomile & Geranium
Best for: Evening ritual, bath oil, pre-sleep self-massage, baby massage
Use this blend when you need to slow down. It works beautifully as a bath oil combined with Mineral Bath Salts at the end of a hard day. As a massage oil, use long, slow strokes on the legs, feet, and décolletage. This is also the blend to reach for when little ones need settling — safety certified for babies from 3 months+, suitable for sensitive skin, and gentle enough for everyday infant massage.
⚡ Energising — Peppermint, Mandarin & Tea Tree
Best for: Morning routine, post-exercise recovery, sports massage, muscle tension relief
The peppermint and tea tree in this blend create an initial cooling sensation on the skin — but don't let that mislead you. That same cooling quality makes this blend exceptional for post-activity and sports massage. It soothes and relieves tense, activated muscles after exercise, sport, or physical work. Use it on the legs, calves, and shoulders after a workout, or as your invigorating morning body moisturiser.
This blend contains mandarin peel oil, which may increase sun sensitivity. Avoid direct sun exposure for 12 hours after application, or use SPF on exposed skin if going outdoors.
Safe for children 3 years and over. Not suitable for babies or infants.
🍊 Uplifting — Mandarin, Lemon & Sweet Orange
Best for: Daytime reset, facial massage, mood support, baby daytime massage (6 months+)
The bright citrus blend in this oil makes it a beautiful choice for a facial massage — the aromatherapy is absorbed through inhalation as you work through the face and neck, invoking energy and an uplifted mood. Use a small amount on clean hands, press lightly into the face and neck, and massage with gentle upward strokes. It also works beautifully as an all-over morning moisturiser when you need to feel lighter and more alert.
For baby massage, it is safety certified from 6 months+ and ideal for daytime use when you want to engage and brighten rather than settle.
Sun sensitivity: The citrus peel oils in this blend can increase photosensitivity. Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 12 hours after application and use SPF on exposed areas if going outdoors — this is especially important when applying to the face, décolletage, or on a baby's skin.
