If you’ve been feeling tired, unmotivated, irritable, overstimulated, or like even simple things take too much energy… it might not be laziness at all.
It might be stress.
For Stress Awareness Month, we wanted to share something simple but important:
You are not the problem. Your body may just be overwhelmed.
At Happy Oils, I’ve always believed self-care should feel supportive — not like another task to perform perfectly. And during stressful seasons, that matters even more.
Because when your nervous system is overloaded, your body doesn’t need more pressure.
It needs support.
What stress can actually feel like in the body

Stress doesn’t always show up in obvious ways.
Sometimes it looks like:
- tension in your shoulders, neck, or jaw
- poor sleep or struggling to switch off
- feeling emotionally reactive or overstimulated
- brain fog or forgetfulness
- feeling behind no matter how hard you try
- low energy, even after resting
- losing motivation for routines that usually help
These are often signs that the body is stuck in survival mode...where the nervous system stays in a more activated state for too long.
And when that happens, “just push through it” usually makes things worse.
Why pushing harder often fails
When your body is dysregulated, more pressure doesn’t usually create better results.
It often creates more resistance, more exhaustion, more guilt, and more disconnection from your own needs
That’s why I created Happy Oils the way I did.
I wanted self-care to feel:
- simple
- grounding
- sensory
- easy to return to
- and realistic for everyday life
Because sometimes the most supportive thing you can do is stop trying to “fix” yourself…
and start helping your body feel safe again.
